Sharief Taraman, M.D. is dual board-certified in Neurology with special qualifications in Child Neurology from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and Clinical Informatics from the American Board of Preventive Medicine. He is the Chief Executive Officer at Cognoa, a Silicon Valley based behavioral health company developing AI-based technologies to enable early and equitable diagnosis and care for children living with developmental and behavioral health conditions. Cognoa’s lead product, Canvas Dx, is the first FDA authorized diagnostic device for autism. He is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Michigan having majored in Biochemistry. He completed his medical education at Wayne State University School of Medicine in 2006 and went on to complete residency training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Neurology at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan. He remains clinically active with CHOC Children’s Specialists Pediatric Neurology Division and was the former Division Chief. He is a Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor at UC Irvine School of Medicine and Affiliate Professor at Chapman University, Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler School of Engineering. Dr. Taraman is active in the community as President of the AAP Orange County Chapter, member of the Irvine Unified School District Medical Advisory Board, and volunteering for Girl Scouts of Orange County and the Capistrano Unified School District.
